til we aren't strangers anymore:: part three.

part three::

His entire face lit up at the sound of my words and that amazing smile that I longed to see returned to his full pink lips. Just seeing him like that made me happier than I'd ever been. "You're lucky I left my skates in Jodi's car," I laughed. "Thank god. For a minute there I thought I'd have to go through every skate in the building to find you guys a pair," he said in a relieved tone. "Yeah, that wouldn't be very much fun. Well, we're gonna go grab our skates. Meet you back here?" "Yeah, I'll be here." With our plans laid out, Jodi and I started off to her car.

We made our way through the Mellon, taking the right path this time, and walked out of the doors. I couldn't hold back any longer. I let out a girly scream and ran through the parking lot, bouncing around like a little kid in a candy shop. "I was wondering how long you could last without freaking out," Jodi chuckled. "Longer than I thought I could. I'm sorry, I just can't help it. I can't believe this is actually happening. This was only a dream before and now it's reality." "If anyone deserves it, it's you," she replied as she handed me the skates out her trunk. "Now let's go! You wouldn't want to keep the poor guy waiting. He was nervous enough." "That's for sure." She closed the trunk and we sprinted off towards the entrance.

[Sidney's P.O.V.]
I stood in that same spot for the next few minutes waiting for the girls. The whole time I couldn't stop thinking about Carrie. She was just so pretty. Honestly, she's the most gorgeous girl I've ever met. And that smile of hers makes me melt every time I see it. I know I just met her, but she doesn't seem like just another girl. She's different. Oh well, what am I thinking. I couldn't be lucky enough to have a girl like her in my life.
[Carrie's P.O.V.]
When we rounded the corner my eyes flashed straight to the guy who had managed to steal my heart away and my nerves began to take over as we got closer and closer. Sidney stood there rocking back and forth nervously as we approached him. I'm pretty sure he never moved from the place we left him. "Good to go?" he asked, his smiling face looking down at me. "Definitely," and I felt every nerve wash away as we walked off towards the locker room.

With the door only a few feet away, Sid ran ahead of us and opened it. "Ladies first," he said holding the door open. "Awww. Thank you very much!" What a gentleman. I couldn't have asked for a better guy to stumble upon, literally. As soon as I made it into the room, I froze, taking everything that lay ahead of me in. The floor beneath me had served as walking grounds to so many incredible players and I was now standing in the exact same spot they had been. This completely blew my mind. "It's alright. Just follow me," Sid reassured me in a soft voice slipping past Jodi. His hand lightly grazed my back as he lead me over to his stall, with Jodi following close behind. I turned my head back quickly to look at my best friend, who gave me a wink and a smile that said it all.

"Holy crap Sid! You said you'd only be gone for a sec and your gone for.. Ohh, I see. You found your girl." Sid and I both turned a light shade of red and he sheepishly introduced us. "Uhh yeah. Jord, this is Carrie Blough. Carrie, this is Jordan Staal. Although I'm sure I didn't even need to tell you that." I laughed a little. "Nice to meet you." "You too," he smiled. "So who's the other lovely lady you brought back with you?" "Ohh, this is Carrie's best friend.." Before he even got a chance to say her name, she cut him off. "Jodi Milavec," she grinned. Hmm.. someone has a crush. "Jordan Staal." The two stood in silence, their eyes locked on each other. Sid looked at me and I looked back to him, returning his confused expression. After a few more seconds, Sidney broke the quiet. "Um.. we'll let you get to know each other," he told them awkwardly. "Okay. We'll be over there." And with that they wandered over to the far end of the room.

We sat down on the bench and began lacing up our skates. "Was it just me or did I see some sparks flickering up between those two." "No, I saw it too." "How long do you think that'll last?" "Judging by the look of lust in their eyes, not very," I giggled. "That's what I thought," he laughed. God that laugh of his is adorable. Sid got done a little bit before me and stood up, waiting patiently. I finished up only a couple seconds later and he noticed I was ready. "All set?" "Yep. We're good." He held out his hand to help me up off the bench. Even though I really didn't need it, I took his hand anyway, and he gently pulled me up to my feet. Butterflies started to swirl in my stomach as I smiled at him warmly and followed him to ice.

til' we aren't strangers anymore:: part two.

two:

That someone was me. Soon enough I found myself starring into the eyes of Sidney Crosby. He sent me a soft smile, that I returned, and we held each others gaze for a few seconds, totally caught up in the moment. It felt like everyone else in the arena had just vanished besides he and I, and for a minute time stood still. He glanced down at my camera, then back up to me, shooting me a huge smile for a picture. I took the photo, laid down my camera, and once again we were starring into each others eyes.

Neither of us wanted the moment to ever end, but Sidney needed to get back to the locker room. Eventually, someone had to be the bad guy and I watched as Sidney about jumped through the roof when Jordan Staal tapped him on the shoulder. I giggled at his flustered expression and saw his face turn about ten shades of red. He regained his composure, then waved goodbye to me. I mouthed out a, "good luck" and with that he turned and skated back to the locker room, catching up with Jordan along the way and slapped him in the back of head. I laughed and slowly took my seat, sighing contently.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Jodi peering at me, mouth wide open in shock. "Did you just.. Did he just.. Are you freaking serious?! Oh my god!" "Yes I just, and yeah he just. Oh and I am freaking serious," I grinned. This gigantic smile on my face may just have to be surgically removed. "I told you he'd love you Carr. I just knew it." "Let's not count our chickens before they hatch, kay? Ya know, I had this weird feeling all day, I mean it was good, but I just couldn't figure it out. I guess that was it." She looked back at me with a knowing grin, a dreamy look plastered all over her face.

The Flyers started to make their way out of their locker room and onto the ice, so I booed as loud as I possibly could along with all the fans. Jodi and I continued our talk, until the lights dimmed, and the announcer's booming voice could be heard throughout the arena. The Pens started pouring out of the runway, skating over to their bench, ready for the drop of the puck. Finally the moment came, "and number 87, Sidneyyy Crosbyyyyy!" I felt Jodi nudge me and I smiled as Crosby glided across the ice. The players set up at center ice, preparing for the first faceoff.

At 4:06 into the game, Chris Thorburn had scored the first goal of the night, with a sweet wrist shot past Niittymaki, making it 1-0. The crowd went wild, cheering and screaming as the Pens took the lead early in the game against their biggest rivals. Only a minute later I watched intently as Sidney took a pass from Ryan Malone behind the cage and battled with R.J. Umberger against the boards. He managed to maintain possession and kicked the puck from his skate to his stick out of Umberger's reach, before spinning around and skating towards the front of the net. With one swift motion he backhanded the puck past Umberger and the Flyers' defenseman, giving the Pens a 2-0 lead. It was definitely one of the best backhanders I'd seen in a while. I jumped to my feet, screaming like crazy as the goal horn sounded. The guys gathered together, celebrating their 2-0 lead, then broke apart. Sidney skated past me before heading to the bench, shooting me a smile, as if to say, "That one was for you." My heart fluttered as my excitement level continued to rise. "Ready to count those chickens yet?" Jodi laughed. "Well, maybe," I blushed.

By the end of the 1st period, the score was 3-2, in favor of the Pens, thanks to a power play goal by Gonchar. "Wanna go get some more popcorn? It's on me this time." "Sure.. Hey Carr?" " Huh?" I continued to rout through my purse, trying to find my wallet. "I think he really likes you. He glanced over at you every chance he got and that whole thing after he got that goal was pretty convincing. I know you don't want to get ahead of yourself, but the way he was looking at you wasn't just the, 'Oh she's cute,' thing." I took notice to the serious look expression on her face. She meant every word she said. I took a minute to piece together what I wanted to say, then stopped dead in my tracks. "I'm usually a very modest person, and most of the time I'd just brush off what you said and tell you it was just a simple glance, but you're right, it's not. Every time I look into his eyes I get this feeling that he's not just another guy. He's more than that." "I'm glad you realize that," she smiled.

We got our popcorn, and went back to our seats just in time to see the guys setting up for the first faceoff. Now the second period was again, amazing. The Pens had taken a 6-2 lead over the Flyers and the guys were on fire. Ryan Malone had netted a goal and Sidney was racking up points like crazy. This game was just incredible. The end of the game drew near and there was only about a minute left in the third. The Pens were on the penalty kill, which didn't seem to matter anyways, we already had a 7-4 lead. Soon we added another goal to our lead, off of a shorthanded goal by Staal. The buzzer sounded, signaling the end of the game, and the Penguins and their fans celebrated a fantastic 8-4 win. After screaming our lungs out we stayed at our seats, waiting to see the Three Stars of the Game. I cheered as Sidney came out of the runway, and the announcer called him as the 1st star of the game. He was completely deserving of it, after having a 6 point game. He looked over to me, smiling, then started back to the locker room. I sunk down in my chair, sitting there completely star struck, until Jodi tapped me on the shoulder. "Ready to go?" "Yeah," I managed to get out, still in my own little world.

We walked out of the seating area, then turned to head out to the gates. By that time there were hardly any people still there, and we walked on down the hall. " Uhh.. I don't remember it taking us this long before, do you?" Jodi asked. "No. Let's go back the other way." As I turned around I ran straight into someone, and the person spilled their drink all over the floor. "Oh my god, I'm so sorry. I really am. I'll help you clean it up," I apologized kneeling down. "It's no big deal. Don't worry about it," the guy said in a calm voice, crouching down in front of me. I raised up my head and almost screamed when I realized who it was.

He smiled at me softly and I did the same as we both slowly got back to our feet. "I'm Sidney.. Sidney Crosby, but I'm guessing you already know that," he grinned extending his hand. I let out a giggle, "I'm Carrie Blough, but you probably didn't know that," I introduced myself taking his hand, shaking it. "Ohh, and this is my best friend, Jodi Milavec." "Nice to meet you," he waved. "You too." He looked back to over to me and moment of silence washed over the both of us. Once again I found myself gazing into his beautiful hazel eyes as he stared into my warm chocolate brown eyes. I broke the quiet to let him know what a great job he did out there. "Congrats on a great game! You guys were on fire! 6 point night? That's just amazing. And that was one of the best backhanders I've seen in a while." "Thanks, but I couldn't have done it without the team," he blushed, which I thought was extremely attractive. I loved his modesty. He may be one of the Penguins best players, but he knows he couldn't do what he does every night without his team, and he makes it known to everyone. "Well anyways, thanks for beating those idiots." "No problem," he laughed, "I can tell you're a big Pens fan. Only the loyal fans hate the Flyers that much." "Got that right," I grinned.

A nervous look spread across his face, as he reached up and rubbed the back of his neck. "Um, I was gonna go skate around for a little while and I was wondering if you'd.. uhh.. want to come with me? I mean both of you." 'Woah! Am I dreaming this? Does Sidney Crosby, the best hockey player ever, the guy every girl wants to be with, my dream guy, actually want to hang out with me?!' I got more and more lost in my thoughts with each second that passed by. Jodi finally hit me in the back, knocking me out of my trace. I looked back to her and she gave me the go-ahead look, nodding. Seriously, I have the best friend ever. I turned back to Sidney, who still looked pretty nervous. "Yeah, I'd like that," I nodded, a gentle smile set on my face.

til' we aren't strangers anymore:: one

one::

BEEP, BEEP, BEEP! Yeah, my worst enemy.. the alarm clock. Okay, so maybe the Flyers are, but that's besides the point. I'm just not much of a morning person, we'll leave it at that. For some reason when I woke up today, things just felt, I don't know, different. I couldn't even explain what I was feeling. There had to be some reason why, but I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

I groaned, rolling over and shutting my alarm off. I sat up in my bed and looked around at the walls surrounding me. There were tons of pictures that I'd recently hung up, some of my family and friends, a couple of my favorite NASCAR drivers, and of course my millions of Pittsburgh Penguins and Sidney Crosby pictures. As I gazed up at one of the pictures, my mind went straight to fantasy land. Sidney Crosby, one of the best hockey players to ever step on a rink. Full of skill and talent ever since he was kid. If I had just one wish it'd be to spend the rest of my life with that amazing, incredible.. I finally snapped out of it when I heard my phone ringing. I jumped out of bed and ran into the living room, hopping on the coach and picking it up.

"Hello?" I didn't bother to look at the caller ID. "Ready for tonight?!" A huge smile crept onto my face when I heard the persons excited voice and I knew exactly who it was. "Hell yeah I'm ready! I've been waiting months for this!" "I kind of figured you'd say that," she laughed. Jodi has been my best friend ever since I can remember. Sometimes I think she knows me better than I know myself. She's like the sister I never had. "So, we're still up for hanging out all day, right?" "Of course. Do you want to meet me at my apartment and then we can go grab something to eat?" "Works for me." "Okay. Then we can just here until game time." "Sounds good. I'll see you in a little bit. "Kay. See ya." "Bye." With that I put my phone back on its charger and headed back to my room.

I went through my dresser, finding my favorite pair of jeans, then walked over to my closet, got a shirt and made my way to the bathroom. I took a quick shower, then went back into the living and sat down on a chair, waiting for Jodi. A few minutes later, I heard someone open the door, but didn't panic. It's not like I didn't know who it was. "Do you ever knock anymore?" "Nope. What's the point? You'll just let me in anyways." "True, but what if you were some scary criminal?" She checked herself over and looked back at me. "Oh yeah, I'm real scary." I just laughed at her, picked up my bag and keys, and walked out the door. We walked down to the parking lot and I unlocked the driver's side of my black F-150. A couple seconds later I heard Jodi knocking on the door, yelling at me to let her in. I simply stuck my tounge out at her and finally unlocked the door. "Funny," she said as she got in. "I know, right?" I replied with a grin. I started up the truck and turned on the radio, only to hear my favorite song playing. "Sweet! What Was I Thinkin'!" "You are the only person I know who actually keeps one song as their favorite." The rest of the way there we sang along to our favorite songs.

We finally made it to our favorite, Primanti Brothers after sitting in tons of traffic, not like that's anything out of the ordinary. I found a parking place and we walked in the resturant, placing our orders and getting our food, then went and found a table. I bit into my sandwich and looked up to see Jodi smirking at me. "What? Do I have something on me?" I picked up a napkin and wiped my face. "No," she laughed. "I was just thinking about how happy you're going to make some guy one of these days. You're not afraid to pig out on a bunch of junk food, you're obsessed with hockey, you love sports in general, you're totally outdoorsy, yet you're one of the prettiest girls in the world." "Awwww, thanks, " I smiled. "Don't worry, you'll make someone really happy too. I just hope that guy you're talking about just so happens to be Sidney Crosby." She looked at me sincerely and said, "I'm sure he'd love you, Carr."

We finished our lunch and I drove us back to my apartment. "So, what do you wanna do?" I said as I crashed on the couch. "Well, it looks like we have time for a movie. Christmas Vacation?" she asked, giving me the puppy dog face. "You know you don't have to beg. I love that movie." I got up from my comfy spot and popped in National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. We laughed through the whole movie, as always, right up to the very end. After it was over, I laid on the couch, not bothering to stop the DVD. I looked over to see Jodi grinning at me again. "Geez Carrie. I thought you'd be bouncing off the walls by now." I glanced over at the clock, 5:00. "Yessss! Only two and half hours til' game time! We better start getting ready so we can be at the Mellon early." I jumped off of the couch and sprinted to my room. "Hurry up slow poke! We need to be ready to leave by 6:15 and I know how you are." "Now there's the excitment I expected!" she said catching up to me.

Today was the day, December 13th. I'd bought tickets on the glass to watch my Penguins take on the Flyers, yuck. Anyways, I've been anticipating this day since I bought the tickets two months ago. I guess you could call them an early anniversary present celebrating my sixth full season as a Pens fan. For some reason I've always been able to remember the exact date of the first game I ever watched, December 16th. I walked over to my closet, carefully taking out my baby, an offical Sidney Crosby jersey that my parents gave me as a gift last Christmas. I gently slid it over my head and clasped my lucky necklace around my neck, a gold chain with quite the history and a Penguins charm I'd recently added on. I went into the bathroom, straightened my bangs, and applied the perfect amount of makeup. I checked my reflection, then ventured back into my room. "How do I look?" "Perfect as always. How do I look?" "Absolutley lovely. Wow! 6:15. Better get going, wouldn't want to be late." "Got that right."

We decided we'd take Jodi's car this time, so we both grabbed our bags and headed out the door. On the way to the arena I stayed pretty quiet, which definatley isn't normal for me. I just couldn't stop thinking about that feeling I had all day. It was different, but in a good way. Oh well, maybe I was reading too far into this. By 6:30 we were stepping out of the car in the arena lot. "Holy crap. We almost didn't make it." She rolled her eyes, "Okay lead foot." "Here's a chance to redeem yourself. Race you there." "You're on. Loser buys snacks. On the count of three. 1, 2.. 3!" We darted off towards the doors, earning some funny looks from the people we passed by. We were even most of the way, until I sped up towards the end, taking the lead. "Ha! Beat you!" "You're just lucky." We handed our tickets to the man at the door to scan. "Thank you. Enjoy the game," he said returning the tickets. "Okay snack girl. Let's get something to eat. I'll buy the drinks."

We bought our snacks, then took our seats. "Holy crap, this is amazing!" we both squeled. "Tell me about it. I've been to a couple games, but never had seats like these." "Guess I won't be needing these," she said placing her glasses back in her purse. "No. i think you'll be able to see the puck just fine," I laughed. Of couse I brought my camera, so I started digging through my purse, trying to find it. "I swear this purse eats things. Ouch!" "What did it bite you now?" I simply rolled my eyes at her. "Finally!" I turned my head, looking across center ice, scanning all the of the Pens warming up. No matter how many games I went to, it always amazed me to see the players in real life. To think that I was only a few feet away from the best guys in hockey blew my mind. I took a few seconds to take it all in, then pulled up my camera and took some pictures. My eyes shot over to some of the guys streching along the boards. I picked up my camera and took a photo of the first guy, Evgeni Malkin. "Hey Jodi! Don't look now, but there's Geno." She jumped up from her seat and stood even closer to the glass, Malkin is her favorite player. While she stood in complete awe, I continued taking pictures, now snapping a photo of the next player, my second favorite, Ryan Malone. As my glance moved over to the next player, I froze. " Hey Carrie, see who else is there?" " Holy.. heck," I said in complete shock. " Well, are you gonna take a picture or not?" "Uhh.. yeah," I stuttered managing to hold up my camera. Just as I did he raised his head and started looking around the arena. He scanned the whole place until his gaze finally fixed on someone in the stands..
